Tip Tuesday – Work From Home Spaces

work from home spaces

Many of you are asking about ideas on how to wedge a “Work-From-Home” space into your already-full home. Of course, there is not a “one-size-fits-all” solution but if you are working more hours at home than in the office, now is the time to make a more permanent plan!

GUEST ROOM: If you are lucky enough to have a dedicated guest room, make that your home office. Just get rid of the big traditional bed. For the occasional guest, get a sleek and comfortable daybed, perhaps with a trundle to sleep two. Purchasing a high-quality air mattress that can be stored with guest linens in a nearby closet is also a fine solution.

DINING ROOM: Very few people use their formal dining room more than twice a year, which is a huge waste of space. If you are working from home for the foreseeable future, perhaps now is the time to forgo that big table and create a workspace. The “old” dining room may be big enough for two desks and even leave room to create a cozy reading area too!

HALLWAY/LANDING: Perhaps your space is VERY tight? If you can carve out less than 3 feet and (a closed up) width of 7 inches, a fold-out or fold down desk may be just right for you! The nice thing about this workspace is that when the workday is done, you can tuck it all behind closed doors!
