Tip Tuesday – One Garment Per Hanger
The Simplify You team LOVES to organize closets.
We’ve found that one rule really makes a difference in storing, finding, and wearing all of your clothing: Only ONE garment PER hanger!
Don’t put a shirt over a tank top. Don’t put a jacket over a blouse or dress, unless you only EVER wear them together. Even then, I encourage you to separate these garments. Fashion stylists say that you will look at those pieces with new eyes, and be encouraged to mix and match more, without having to buy new clothes.
Don’t put two or more skirts or pairs of pants on the same clip hanger. Don’t use “cascading” hangers or “stacked” hangers. You won’t be able to see all of your clothes, and the hassle of actually using those clothes, putting them away, or getting them out is enormous.
If you can’t fit all of your clothes in your closet when they’re on their own hangers, then that’s a sign to edit your wardrobe. If your clothes DO all fit in your closet, but you don’t have enough hangers, I encourage you to purchase new hangers all of the same kind.
Remember: Don’t “double up,” and see how much easier it is to enjoy and manage your wardrobe!
