Tip Tuesday – Hosting for the Holidays
Are you finally able to host friends and family this holiday season? NOW is the time to tidy up and prepare! Here is an article from Northern Virginia Magazine where I am quoted with a bunch of ideas! In addition to fluffy towels and fresh flowers, here are more ideas to keep them comfortable:
WELCOME: If your coat closet is stuffed, place an over-the-door hook on the outside for guests’ coats. A little chalkboard label with their name lets them know it’s for them!
WIFI: Put your network and password info in a frame and place it in every room where guests will congregate to save them asking over and over again!
WORKSPACE: Try to have a desk and chair available for guests to set up their laptops if they are working remotely. And have a surge protector easily available with USB ports for them to safely charge their many electronics.
WINE: Assign everyone a color and mark coffee mug handles, cups, and stemware with inexpensive silicone wine charms. I also put out a placemat for guests to place cups that they intend to reuse (so I don’t compulsively put them in the dishwasher).
WICKER: I put a large wicker basket on my main level landing that guests can use to place their purses, water bottles, hats, and souvenirs after a day out, so they can keep everything in one place without having to go up to their room.
