Tip Tuesday – 8 Donation Pick Up Options
Spring cleaning fever is here, and we’re all freshening up our spaces for a new season and possible post-pandemic visitors. In the process, you may have set aside lots of lovely donations, perfect for a “second life” in another home. But how can you effortlessly get your donations to deserving charities? I suggest these 8 nationwide opportunities to have your donations picked up, right at your door!
1 – GoGreenDrop.com is my top pick as you can choose from four different charities to give to. And in my neighborhood, they do pickups every week!
2 – DonationTown.org represents dozens of different charities in nearly 30 cities across America. They will take just about anything, including appliances and furniture!
3 – PickUpPlease.org benefits Vietnam Veterans of America and often can pick up within 48 hours! Like the services above, they note that “We only accept items that are small and light enough for ONE person to easily lift and carry.”
4 – VVA.org also assists Vietnam Veterans and picks up in all but 16 states in the Continental US.
5 – AmVetsPickUp.org aids American Veterans of all wars and is available in six states and growing.
6 – SATruck.org is the Salvation Army. If you have furniture, then this is an excellent option. You will need to make an extensive list of the items for pickup, but they will come and take your things out, even down one staircase!
7 – Habitat.org is another great option for getting furniture or ANY castoffs from a recent renovation picked up. Toilets, lumber, hardware…even the kitchen sink is a welcome donation for the Habitat for Humanity stores!
8 – GiveBackBox.com was once a free service where you could take ANY cardboard box, fill it with donations and slap a free mailing label on it. Now you will need to pay $15 for the label, but you can choose from 82 charities for your donation to go to! This option is ideal for people without a front porch to leave donations on. Just leave the box in your apartment or condo mailroom for UPS to pick up when they are delivering.
So there you have it, 8 great options for getting those donations OUT of your home and to the nationwide charities that can use them! Do you have any other links or resources? Please share them in my FB Group!
